Mr. (Bill) Blaskopf is a popular math teacher and speaker at both national and regional meetings for math teachers.  He is Chairman Emeritis of the Mathematics Department at Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey, an independent day school where he has taught since 1974.  He provided the leadership that brought Newark Academy to the forefront of math education in the state of New Jersey.

He earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from SUNY Brockport and a Masters Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Adelphi University.

Mr. Blaskopf was honored to be a State Level Finalist in the 1995 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Awards and recognized as a Teacher of the Year by the Tandy Corporation.  He has been recognized as an outstanding educator in the book From Agnesi to Zeno by Dr. Sanderson Smith.  He is a past-President of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey (AMTNJ).  He has served on the Editorial Board of the Mathematics Teacher, a magazine published by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics(NCTM).  Several of his published articles can be read by clicking here.

As an officer of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey (AMTNJ) and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), he has chaired many committees for both organizations.  He belongs to the Mathematics Association of America (MAA), the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools (NJAIS).  Mr. Blaskopf presents workshops for math educators for each of these organizations.

Mr. Blaskopf enthusiastically applies math to the greening of our lives and to baseball statistics.   He writes the math contests for several organizations each year.  He has coached several athletic teams at Newark Academy; including Girl's Varsity Basketball, winning the Prep School Championship one year, Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Track, and JV baseball.

Mr. Blaskopf and Mrs. Wasserman have developed a PSAT/SAT course that addresses all the skills needed for success by their students.  The course not only reviews the specific academic skills needed and test taking techniques, but also works with students on relaxation techniques. They spend the time required to make sure their students are comfortable with the test.

On a personal note, he and his wife have been married over 40 years and are proud parents of 2 daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
